Surveys

Overview

Surveys help you gather structured input from your learners. At its core a survey is basically a collection of questions structured in a specific order with a name and a description.

At the moment, surveys can be used with:

  • live sessions, either to require extra information during the registration process or to request feedback after the session has ended;
  • assignments, to retrieve explicit data from learners, that can be used to make further decisions on the learning process.

Manage Surveys

There are two pages that help you view and manage all your surveys.

The Surveys List Page

Here surveys are displayed in the table view. This view allows you to query your surveys using the Filter Bar and also perform basic actions like edit or delete.

The Survey View Page

You can reach this page by clicking on the survey name in the Survey List Page. The view shows you general information, and Survey Responses grouped by learner.

Besides providing different ways of viewing data these two pages allow you to perform various actions that we will describe in the next sections.

Create a Survey

Prerequisites

You first have to create or import questions in order to be able to use them in a create survey form. Check the separate page on managing survey questions for more details

  1. Go to the Surveys List Page
  2. Click on the Create button
  3. Select the Create Survey Option
  4. A new form will appear where you can specify the details of your new form

Edit a Survey

  1. This action is available from either the Surveys Table or the Survey View Page
  2. From the table you need to click on the edit icon relative to the survey row. In the view page the icon will be visible in top right corner of the page
  3. After clicking on the icon button a form similar with the one from the create action will appear.
  4. Update the survey data click submit to finalize the process.

Delete a Survey

Similar to the edit action surveys can be deleted from the Surveys List Page or from the Surveys View Page. From the list page you can either delete them one by one from the row actions section or select multiple rows and use the batch delete option. From the view page the survey can be deleted from the trashcan icon button in the top right corner of the page.

Reports

There are 2 types of reports that can be generated for surveys:

Survey Responses

This report provides you with a list in which each row represents the answer given by a learner on a survey question.

Survey Responses Grouped

Here the system will create an excel file with different sheets for every survey included in the report. This way the information in each sheet will be structured based on the questions from that specific survey. Each row will represent all the answers that a learner has submitted for that form.
