Learner Groups
Overview
Learner Groups give you an easier time when you want to target a specific section of learners and track their progress.
There are two ways in which you can think about a group of learners, a dynamic group or a static group.
Dynamic Groups
Dynamic Groups are defined by a set of filters that are used to query the learner data. The list of learners created by this group type will always update dynamically, based on changes that occur in your employee data, hence the naming.
This way you can create behaviors like: assign this GDPR training to new employees or new managers should attend a leadership training session.
Create/Edit Dynamic Groups
Create
- Go to the Learners Section
- Click on the Create Button and then select the Dynamic Group option
- A new side modal will appear where you can define the name and the filters that should be used by that group.
- When everything is ready click submit and your group will be created
Edit
- Go to the Learner Groups List page
- Search for the group that you want to edit
- After that click on the edit icon at the end of the table row
- From here you will access the same form used for create but with prefilled values this time.
Static Groups
This group type will always reference the same list of learners defined during the create/edit process. This allows you to work with sections of learners that should not change over time.
Create/Edit Static Groups
Create
- Go to the Learners Section
- Click on the Create Button and then select the Static Group option
- A new side modal will appear where you can define the name and select the learners that should be included in your group.
- When everything is ready click submit and your group will be created
Edit
- Go to the Learner Groups List page
- Search for the group that you want to edit
- After that click on the edit icon at the end of the table row
- From here you will access the same form used for create but with prefilled values this time.
Import Static Groups
Static groups can also be imported. This can be useful in cases where you have an initial list defined in a tool like Excel.
- Go to the Learners Section
- Click on the Import button and the select Groups option
- A modal will appear in which you will have to upload a
.csvfile. - Download the import template file first to see how to structure your data.
- When everything is ready submit the form and the data will change.
